Term 3 Immersion Assembly

Today was the first day of term 3 which meant we would have a our annual Immersion Assembly.
The Immersion assembly started with Mr Burt showing us his hat collection and telling us where about in the world he got his hats and short story's about them. Then he Mr Jacobson started talking about his family and why he was wearing a kilt, Turns out the kilt was worn by his grandfather when he was about to go to war. Next was Mr Somerville he didn't know much about his family before the holidays but then he asked about it and turns out he comes from and long line of Lords. The first Lord Somerville was made a lord by a king from Scotland and was given land in Scotland. His family also has a village named Somerville Village because that was there land and they also have a castle that belong to his family in the area. 

Team 1
The first team to come and present what they are going to be learning about was Team 1 they are learning about other kids at school around the world, Basically they learn what they do during the day or after school. And they showed us that by making a video for us to watch.

Team 2
The second team to present what their learning about was team 2, Team 2 are exploring the world looking for famous land marks they also showed us using a video.

Team 3
The third team was team 3 they are going to have an amazing race around the world, which was showed using a video.

Team 4
The second to last team was team 4, team 4 are experimenting and tasting many different dishes of food from  different country's. They also presented using a video


Team 5
The last team was team 5, team 5 showed us a play showing and legend called Sina and the eel. Team 5 is learning about Myths and Legends.

Kia-O-Rahi with room 1&3

Today at my school me and my class (room 3) and Mrs Moala's class (room 1) played a game of Kia-O-Rahi. Both of our classes were super excited to play.

Once we got to the netball court outside of our class we got some tag belts and tags and lined up so we can be split into 2 groups. After we got into our groups we started the game with my class team purple in the circle and Mrs moalas class as the center and outside team yellow.

In the beginning my team was winning but when it became closer to the end team yellow started winning. When it was time to switch groups our group was losing a lot. But the end result was us just having fun.  Hopeful we can play Kia-O-Rahi again.

Special School Assembly

Today at Pt England Schools anal Friday assembly we had a little celebration for our principle Mr Burt, Because on the queens birthday he received a very special award from the queen called the "New Zealand Order Of Merit For Service Of Education".

Mr Burt planned our assembly just like he would any other assembly we have, But this time the assembly went a little out of order because the whole school teamed up to do a surprise celebration for out Principle.

It started of with Mrs Nua our deputy principle congratulating Mr Burt for his amazing achievement, after that another bunch of important people started speak about the award Mr Burt. Once we finished the year 7 and 8 students started to sing "Ufiufi" and then the whole school started to sing "Ka Waiata" and then all the year 7 and 8 boys plus other people started to do a Haka...

After that Mr Burt said a speech saying thank you to everyone for the special assembly. Then we carried on with our normal assembly.

Task Description: Room 3 have been learning and discovering the four different sides of Te Whare Tapa Wha. Along the way of Learning new things about this topic our teachers Mrs.Tele'a and Whaea Kelly gave us a presentation about Te Whare Tapa Wha in order to complete this task we had to research about the four sides of Te Whare Tapa Wha.
